The Craziest Weekend Of 2013

Let’s just start off by saying that maybe we shouldn’t have come out of our house this weekend.  It has been the craziest weekend of 2013!

It might have possibly started earlier in the week when I ended up with the stomach virus on Tuesday.  That should have been my cue to just stay in and rest over the weekend.  Then Friday, Carter had the stomach virus.  Poor, lil’ sick feller.  He was pitiful.  Come Saturday morning though, he was all better and ready to go!

Mama, Daddy, Hali, Carter, Mac, and I had planned for weeks to go to Nashville on Saturday, Dec 14th, and take Carter to see the lights in Opryland Hotel (which didn’t happen), shop a little in Opry Mills, and eat at The Rainforest Cafe.  We were so excited, but I think Carter was most excited out of all of us.  He talked about Santa Claus the whole way there.

We left pretty much on time and swung through Glasgow to pick my sister up.  On our way to pick her up, we come upon a wreck, which just so happened to be my childhood best friend’s mom.  We immediately turned back around and went back to check on her.  She was fine, just a little shaken up.

While turning around, a cup of juice ended up spilling every where in the front console.  A half a box of Kleenex, a wash rag, and a Wal-mart sack later, the mess was cleaned up and we were en route to Nashville.

1 1/2 miles before the Opry Mills exit and we were dead stop!  Oh great!  Traffic was so backed up.  What kinda bright idea had we had planning this trip sooo close to Christmas?!  After a 30 minute wait, we were finally off the exit and in the mall parking lot, trying to find a spot.  My daddy and mama was out fighting for a close parking spot (okay, not really, but mama was standing in a parking spot so daddy could get a closer one) and Mac, Hali, Carter, and I headed inside the mall to put our names in at The Rainforest Cafe.

Yup, TWO HOUR WAIT!!!  Oh my gosh, I was so hungry!  We decided to do our shopping during the wait, which turned out pretty good.  I picked out the rest of my Christmas presents from Mac =D  And Carter got to see Santa.  Santa even waved at him!

After Santa waved at him. You can see the excitement in his little face.

It was finally time to eat!  Carter seen a huge snake hanging from the ceiling and it snapped at him, which made him cover his eyes and cry.  He was scared too death!  I thought he was going to love it after seeing the beautiful fish tanks.  Boy was I wrong!  The monkey/gorilla show started and bless his little heart, he was terrified.  We will never be back there with him!  He is still talking about those monkey’s today and when I ask if he wanted to go back he said NO!

Also, while shopping and eating, my sister was hit with the stomach virus.  What a miserable trip for her!  Actually it was kinda miserable for all of us on the ride home… listening to her in the back.  =|  Sorry, Hali!  You know it was bad!  I’m praying that we don’t end up with it.

Heck, that is all just Saturday’s adventure!  Let’s get on with Sunday!

Sunday morning, Mac headed to his work to check in and get things in order for Monday.  To his surprise, they had a break in this weekend and lots of tools were stolen.  Probably thousands of dollars worth.  Ugh, people make me sick these days!

While he was dealing with that, I was out getting our grocery shopping done for the week.  I was checking out at Wal-mart, using some gift cards I had with different amounts on them.  The cashier (who was so nice) accidentally dropped one of the gift cards down in the register.  After 15 minutes of looking for it, they finally took my name and phone number.  I was told they would call me when it was found because they were going to have to take the whole register apart!  I definitely learned a lesson from that – always know how much is on your gift card.  I could have easily lied because they ask me multiple times if I knew how much was on it, but that’s just not me.  The sweet cashier even tried to pay for the remaining balance, which was so, so nice, but I didn’t want that.  I knew it was an accident.

And if you have made it this far, thank you so much for reading about my crazy life.  🙂  The End.

Gaylord Opryland Hotel – Nashville, TN

WARNING:  You will want to travel here!

This past weekend we traveled to music city for a night away from home for some rest & relaxation.  We made our stay at the famous Gaylord Opryland Hotel and yes, it is awesome!  How could it be anything but awesome when you look out your room window and see this?  That’s all indoors!  One of my favorite things about this hotel is you don’t even have to leave.  Hungry?  They have several restaurants.  Ball game on?  They have a sports bar with 100 tv’s.  Exercise?  24 hour fitness room, plus you can walk all over the 9-acre property.  Spa day?  Yup, they have that too.  Shopping?  They are several small shops, but the best shopping is at Opry Mills, which you can walk to or hop a free shuttle.

The scenery around the property is unreal.  Look at this waterfall!  I could have stood for an hour and watched/listened to it.  It was so peaceful.

Look at these gold fish!  They are HUGE!  And of course, we had to make a wish and each throw our own penny in.

Ah, this bed!  The MOST COMFORTABLE bed we have ever slept on.  I can’t wait to spend a weekend here just to lay in the bed a little bit longer.  🙂  The desk area with the mirror was perfect for taking selfies.  And who doesn’t like a flat screen tv?!  You don’t know it by looking, but the right side of that dresser is not real drawers.  It opens up and a small safe and refrigerator are stored in there.   Oh and that view again!

Next up, we have the bathroom.  Have you ever been to one of those hotels that you don’t even want to touch the shower?  Yeah, well not this one.  It is spotless!  And there were two sinks.  One in the bathroom and one right outside the door.  Perfect for me to straighten my hair while Mac is taking a shower.  Gaylord Opryland Hotel - Nashville, TN Bathroom

I wish we had made time to take advantage of the pool and hot tub.  It was such a nice area with a pool side bar.

The Opryland Hotel is home to 7 restaurants.  Stax is the one we ate at.  Ha, cheeseburgers!  Not to mention they were double cheeseburgers!  And good too.  At Stax, you get your food and take it outside the restaurant to eat it.  We sat at a bar area and had a wonderful view of a fountain water show.   We ended up getting frozen yogurt too from Delta Delight just up from Stax.

I had to take a tiiiiiny nap after being here a few hours.  I’d been up since 5:15am because I’d helped with the 5k, so this girl needed some rest.  After my two hour nap :), we got ready and headed to Jack Daniels restaurants to have some drinks and listen to some music.  This girl could sing and she was covering anything from Patty Loveless to Travis Tritt to her own songs.

And here we are posing behind the huge waterfall that is located at the beginning of this post.

Us

There are so many pros to this trip!  I can’t wait to go back because there are a ton more things that I want to do.  Like go to the Grand Ole Opry (free shuttle takes you there), visit the General Jackson Showboat, see the Christmas lights in December, and sleep in that amazing bed again.

The only con I can think of from this trip was the wait time to check in.  Check in time is 3:00pm and we arrived around 3:30.  I got in line to check in and had to wait around 30 minutes.  Next time we will either pay extra to check in early or come a little bit later.

Have you visited the Opryland Hotel? Do you plan to visit in the future?   Take me with you!!!
