Hi, I’m Ashlee… and I’m a Carmex addict. I’m not afraid to say it. You may be suffering from this addiction as well.

Confessions of a Carmex Addict

You may be a Carmex addict if:

You have more than two.
I legit have four tubes in my purse and I always make sure Mac has one in his pocket.

Your lips no longer tingle after you apply it.
It’s been years since I’ve felt that awesome Carmex tingle on my lips.

You put¬†it on SO often, you don’t even realize you’re putting it on.
Guilty. Before I eat, after I eat. Before I shower, after I shower. Before bed, when I wake up!

Is there such thing as Carmex Anonymous … because I need it!

3 Steps To Help Your Keratosis Pilaris

Do you suffer from little white/red bumps on your upper arms or other areas?
Does it feel like sandpaper when you rub your hands over it?
Does it make you self-conscious to wear sleeveless shirts?
You may be suffering from Keratosis Pilaris. I do.

WebMD gives the definition of Keratosis Pilaris as “a common, harmless skin condition. It causes small, hard bumps that may make your skin feel like sandpaper. The bumps are often light-colored. They usually appear on your upper arms, thighs, and buttocks, sometimes with redness or swelling.”

What causes Keratosis Pilaris?
WebMD states “Keratosis pilaris is caused by a buildup of keratin, the protein that protects skin from infections and other harmful things. The buildup forms a plug that blocks the opening of a hair follicle, but doctors don’t know what triggers the buildup.”

I have been dealing with this for a few years now. The only thing that seemed to make it better was tanning, rather it be in the tanning bed or in the natural sunlight. I wanted a better way and so far, it is helping tremendously!

3 easy steps to help with keratosis pilaris

3 steps to help your Keratosis Pilaris.

  1. Lather the dry area that Keratosis Pilaris is in with Selsun Blue and let it dry.  I let it set for about 5 minutes.
  2. While in the shower, I wash all areas and try not to let the water and soap hit the Selsun Blue area. I basically use it as a soap on this area.  Before you exit the shower, rinse the Selsun Blue off as you rinse the rest of your body.
  3. After you are dried off, apply a moisturizing lotion to the area. You can find my favorite moisturizing lotion here.

Please remember: I am not a doctor. This is simply a routine that was mentioned to me¬†that I tested out and it has really helped.¬†Not cured it completely, but it has made me feel much more comfortable with my skin.¬†It may not work for you, but it wouldn’t hurt to try.
